Rainbow Obby Speedrun Guide: Skipping Checkpoints, Wall-Jumps & Hard Stages

Published · Updated · 1 min read

Climbing through all stages of Rainbow Obby requires patience and keen spatial depth perception. But if you want to compete on leaderboards or beat personal bests, you need to transition from cautious stepping to continuous momentum speedrunning.

1. Camera Angle & Crosshair Alignment

The biggest pitfall in 3D obby platformers is misjudging vertical drop distances. By tilting your camera downwards at approximately 45 degrees, you can see both your avatar's feet and the landing edge simultaneously. This eliminates depth illusion and prevents overshooting narrow beams.

2. The Momentum Bunny-Hop Technique

In PlayCanvas physics, jumping immediately upon landing preserves horizontal velocity. Chaining continuous bunny hops allows you to clear small gaps between colored stepping stones without pausing to realign your run.

3. Stage-Specific Shortcuts

On cylindrical beams, you can frequently jump along the side slope rather than waiting for the top ridge to rotate level. Similarly, corner cuts on L-shaped turns save up to 2 seconds per platform section.
